After seeing a Mucha Exhibition at the Fullerton Museum a few weeks back and struggling to find a little bit more direction with my own work, I started working on new sketches and direction for my work. The recent commission I did was a bit of a "test" to see how things may work with framing and background patterns. I found it successful, but only had it committed to paint. The next task will be to work up some watercolors.
In the mean time, I've been working in my sketchbook fairly rigorously to play around with composition and keep up with my drawing practice. Having started back on a new film, the hours available haven't been all that kind. Early morning (with plenty of coffee) seem to be the only way that it will come together. Carrying a sketchbook and looking for brief moments of waiting being the other.
